Efficacy and safety of 10 Chinese patent medicines combined with FOLFOX in the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer:a network meta-analysis

Abstract：Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of Chinese patent medicine combined with FOLFOX in the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer by network meta-analysis.Methods The randomized controlled trials of Chinese patent medicine combined with FOLFOX in the treatment of intermediate and advanced colorectal cancer included in databases of CNKI,WanFang Data,PubMed,Cochrane Library,VIP,CBM,Embase and Web of Science were systematically searched from the establishment of these databases to October 20,2023.The data were analyzed by RevMan and Stata 16.0 software.Results A total of 35 studies were included,involving 2 982 patients with advanced colorectal cancer.The results of network meta-analysis showed that in terms of improving the objective response rate(ORR)of colorectal cancer,the top 3 Chinese patent medicines were Yangzheng Xiaoji Capsule＞Xiaoaiping＞Kangai Injection;in terms of improving disease control rate(DCR),the top 3 Chinese patent medicines were Yangzheng Xiaoji Capsule＞Fufang Banmao Capsule＞Xiaoaiping;in terms of improving the quality of life(QOL)of patients with colorectal cancer,the top 3 Chinese patent medicines were Yangzheng Xiaoji Capsule＞Xiaoaiping＞Aidi Injection;in terms of improving white blood cell count(WBC)decrease in patients with colorectal cancer after chemotherapy,the ranking of Chinese patent medicines was Cinobufotalin Capsule＞Shenyi Capsule＞Fufang Banmao Capsule;in terms of improving the incidence of nausea and vomiting in patients with colorectal cancer after chemotherapy,the ranking of Chinese patent medicines was Cinobufotalin Capsule＞Yangzheng Xiaoji Capsule＞Kangai Injection;and in terms of improving immune function,the ranking of Chinese patent medicines was Yangzheng Xiaoji Capsule＞Fufang Banmao Capsule＞Kangai Injection.Conclusion The combination of these 10 kinds of Chinese patent medicines on the basis of conventional chemotherapy can improve the DCR,ORR and QOL of patients with advanced colorectal cancer,enhance patients'immune function and reduce adverse reactions caused by chemotherapy.Among them,Yangzheng Xiaoji Capsule shows the best performance in improving ORR,DCR and QOL.Cinobufotalin Capsule is the best in improving WBC decrease and nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy.Yangzheng Xiaoji Capsule also performs well in improving patients'immune function.
