Abstract:The boundary tissue of the central nervous system(CNS)dynamically monitors leukocyte migration and brain-derived signals.Skull-meninges connections(SMCs)are the newly discovered special anatomical channels for the ingress of leukocytes into the CNS.In this paper, the research progress of SMCs is described in detail, with emphasis on the discovery, structural characteristics, and physiological and pathological characteristics of SMCs,and the molecular characteristics of skull bone marrow-related cells in CNS diseases are described. At present, the research on the biology of SMCs is still in the early stage, and more studies in CNS diseases in the future may provide new perspectives on the molecular pathological characteristics and mechanisms of SMCs,which is expected to provide an effective way for early screening and targeted therapy of CNS-related diseases.
