Abstract:Objective To observe the changes of levels of soluble Tyro3/Axl/Mer(TAM)receptors(sTyro3,sAxl and sMer)in plasma of patients with hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome(HFRS)in different disease severities or stages, and to explore their possible roles in the pathogenesis of HFRS.Methods Plasma samples were collected from 20 normal controls and 38 HFRS patients during acute and convalescent phases.ELISA was used to detect the content of sTyro3,sAxl and sMer in plasma. The plasma levels of sTyro3,sAxl and sMer in HFRS patients were compared with those of normal subjects, and their correlation with growth arrest-specific protein 6(Gas6)and clinical indicators was also analyzed. Results Compared with normal control group, there were no significant differences in plasma sTyro3 levels in HFRS patients in different disease severities or stages(P>0.05).The plasma levels of sAxl and sMer in patients with critical/severe HFRS were significantly higher than those in patients with moderate/mild HFRS(P<0.05),and both critical/severe and moderate/mild groups were higher than the normal group(P<0.01,P<0.05).Compared with the plasma levels of sAxl and sMer during the convalescent phase, there were significant differences in sAxl during the acute phase(P<0.05),but no significant differences in sMer(P>0.05).Both plasma levels of sAxl and sMer were significantly higher than those in normal subjects(P<0.01).The plasma levels of sAxl and sMer were positively correlated with Gas6.The plasma level of sAxl was positively correlated with C-reactive protein, creatinine(Crea)and uric acid(UA),negatively correlated with platelet(PLT)counts, and had no correlation with urea nitrogen(BUN)and white blood cell(WBC)counts. The plasma level of sMer was positively correlated with WBC counts,PLT counts and UA,but not correlated with Crea and BUN.Conclusion The plasma levels of sAxl and sMer in HFRS patients are correlated with the severity of the disease,Gas6 levels, and inflammatory indicators, suggesting that the elevated levels of sAxl and sMer may participate in the inflammatory response through the Gas6/TAM axis. This study provides useful insights for further exploring the maintenance of immune homeostasis and inflammation in the pathogenesis of HFRS.
