Abstract:Objective To explore clinical effects of using the pre-expanded flap from the cervical cutaneous branch of the transverse cervical artery to repair cervical scar contracture in children. Methods The feasibility and advantages of pre-expanded flap from the cervical cutaneous branch of the transverse cervical artery were analyzed by reviewing the pediatric patients with cervical scar contracture treated in the Department of Plastic Surgery,Xijing Hospital,Air Force Medical University from January 2009 to December 2019.Results Among the 13 cases,1 case underwent debridement and expander replacement because of expander exposure caused by poor incision healing after expander implantation;1 case continued to expand after anti-infection treatment because of infection after expander implantation;2 cases underwent hematoma evacuation within 24 h after flap transposition.A total of 15 expanded flaps were successfully transferred to the neck in all 13 cases with good results. Conclusion Pre-expanded flap from the cervical cutaneous branch of the transverse cervical artery is a good method for repairing cervical scar contracture in children.
