Abstract:Objective To investigate the impact of coilshim technology on the image quality of cervical segmented readout echo-planar diffusion-weighted imaging(RESOLVE-DWI).Methods Thirty-three patients underwent cervical MRI.Both RESOLVE-DWI and coilshim-RESOLVE-DWI sequences were performed. The image quality of both DWI sequences was subjec-tively and objectively evaluated at nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx and thyroid levels. Then statistical analysis was per-formed.Results Subjective scores showed that the coilshim-RESOLVE-DWI group had significantly higher overall image qual-ity scores and fat signal intensity scores compared to the RESOLVE-DWI group(P<0.05).The coilshim-RESOLVE-DWI group had slightly higher image susceptibility artifact scores, image distortion scores, and normal tissue structure display scores at dif-ferent levels of the neck region than the RESOLVE-DWI group, but the differences had no statistically significant(P>0.05).Ob-jective analysis revealed the coilshim-RESOLVE-DWI group demonstrated significantly superior SNR,CNR at four levels, and fat signal intensity at the nasopharynx, oropharynx and thyroid levels compared to the RESOLVE-DWI group(all P<0.05),while fat suppression effect at the oropharynx level had no statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion Compared with RESOLVE-DWI,combined with coilshim technique can significantly improve the overall image quality and the fat suppression effect of the cervical region, demonstrating clinical potential.
