Abstract:Objective To explore the diagnostic value of microblood flow imaging(MFI)combined with conventional ultra-sound for benign and malignant thyroid nodules. Methods Data from 100 patients with thyroid nodules(139 nodules)were selected. All patients underwent routine high-frequency ultrasound,MFI examinations, and fine needle aspiration biopsy or surgical pathological examination within one week.Histopathological examination results were used as the gold standard to analyze the value of MFI combined with conventional high-frequency ultrasound in distinguishing the nature of thyroid nodules. Results Histopathological examination showed that out of 139 nodules,116 were malignant nodules, accounting for 83.45%,and 23 were benign nodules, accounting for 19.83%.According to Kappa consistency measurement, the identification results of thyroid nodules by high-frequency ultrasound were generally consistent with the gold standard(Kappa=0.524,P<0.001).The consistency between MFI examination and the gold standard for distinguishing the nature of thyroid nodules was generally low(Kappa=0.652,P<0.001).The combination of MFI and conventional high-frequency ultrasound showed good consistency in dis-tinguishing the nature of thyroid nodules with pathological examination results(Kappa=0.808,P<0.001).The sensitivity and ac-curacy of MFI alone and MFI combined with conventional high-frequency ultrasound in diagnosing the nature of thyroid nodules were higher than those of high-frequency ultrasound alone(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the speci-ficity of high-frequency ultrasound,MFI alone, and combined examination in diagnosing the nature of thyroid nodules(P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of high-frequency ultrasound and MFI examination can improve the sensitivity and accu-racy of diagnosing benign and malignant thyroid nodules.
