MRI imaging features of giant juvenile fibroadenoma of the breast

Abstract：Objective To summarize the MRI features of giant juvenile fibroadenoma(GJF)of the breast.Methods Clini-cal and MRI imaging data of 8 patients with GJF were collected and analyzed.Results Among the 8 cases,2 cases occupied each quadrant of the left breast,3 cases occupied each quadrant of the right breast,1 case occupied the left inner quadrant,1 case occupied the lower quadrant of the right breast,and 1 case occupied each quadrant of both breasts.There were 6 single cases and 2 multiple cases.Maximum diameter was 5.6～12.9 cm.All 8 cases were oval.The edges were clear in 8 cases.T1WI equal signal was found in 8 cases,T2WI high signal in 6 cases,and equal signal in 2 cases,High DWI signal was found in 8 cases,ADC equal signal in 6 cases,low signal in 2 cases.All 8 cases showed uniform enhancement with dark segregation.Early rapid reinforcement appeared in 7 cases and medium reinforcement in 1 case.TIC gradual increase type exhibited in 6 cases and flat type in 2 cases.The blood supply of MIP the affected breast increased asymmetrically in 7 cases,and the blood supply of both breasts was basically symmetrical in 1 case.No nipple,skin,chest wall muscle involvement,axillary lymph node enlargement and structural distortion were observed in 8 cases.In 8 cases,the glands around the mass were changed under pressure,2 cases presented with hemorrhage,2 cases with necrosis,and 1 case with edema of the surrounding glands.Conclusion The MRI findings of GJF are oval mass with clear margin,diameter greater than 5.0 cm,mainly equal T1WI,high T2WI,high DWI signal,uniform internal enhancement with dark division,rapid enhancement in early stage,gradual increase in TIC,and asymmetrically increased blood supply on the affected side of MIP.
