Abstract:Objective The objective of this study was to compare the postoperative analgesic effects of ultrasound-guided ser-ratus anterior plane block(SPB)and PECS Ⅱ block in patients undergoing modified radical mastectomy.Method Sixty-four breast cancer patients with ASA grade Ⅰ to Ⅱ,aged 25 to 65 years, who underwent elective modified radical mastectomy, were randomly divided into SPB group and PECS Ⅱ block group, with 32 cases in each group. After general anesthesia, the patients in two group received a ultrasound-guided SPB or PECS Ⅱ block, with 25 mL of 0.375%ropivacaine,respectively.The primary outcome measures were visual analog scale(VAS)score at rest, and VAS score during shoulder exercise at different time points(1,2,4,8,12,24 h),the secondary outcome measures were morphine dosage 24 h after surgery and opioid-related adverse reac-tions.Results There was no significant difference in VAS score between the ultrasound-guided SPB group and PECS Ⅱ block group(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the dosage of morphine and opioid-related adverse reactions 24 h after sur-gery(P>0.05).Conclusion Both ultrasound-guided SPB and PECS Ⅱ block can provide satisfactory analgesia for patients un-dergoing modified radical mastectomy. The analgesic effect of the two nerve block methods is similar.
