Abstract:Objective To summarize the ultrasonographic manifestations of various types of Meckel's diverticulum, and to evaluate the value of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of Meckel's diverticulum and the assessment of its complications. Methods This study collected 463 cases of Meckel's diverticulum confirmed by surgery and pathology.A systematic retrospec-tive analysis was conducted on the gender, age, clinical presentation, sonographic features, and characteristics of complications in these patients. Results According to whether intestinal obstruction was combined, the patients were divided into intestinal obstruction group(n=55)and non-intestinal obstruction group(n=408).Intestinal obstruction group included 23 cases of intus-susception,15 cases of band-related obstruction,14 cases of intestinal adhesions, and 3 cases of internal hernia.Patients were stratified into two age groups,0-3 years(n=266)and>3 years(n=197).Based on the morphology and ultrasonographic fea-tures,the 463 cases of Meckel's diverticulum confirmed by ultrasound and pathology were classified into Type Ⅰ(flattened/nodular,17.1%),Type Ⅱ(minimal fluid,65.2%),Type Ⅲ(mass-forming,3.2%),Type Ⅳ(cystic,1.0%),and Type Ⅴ(intussuscepted,5.0%).Conclusion Ultrasonography can differentiate the types of Meckel's diverticulum and effectively assist in the clinical differentiation of intestinal obstruction caused by Meckel's diverticulum and its various etiologies, which is a crucial tool in the diagnosis and assessment of complications in pediatric Meckel's diverticulum.
