Abstract:Objective To explore the advantages, disadvantages and joint application value of anterior segment optical co-herence tomography(AS-OCT)and ultrasound biomicroscopy(UBM)in the imaging diagnosis of foreign bodies in the anterior segment. Methods 68 patients(73 eyes)were selected.Location, size, nature and tissue adjacent relationship of foreign bod-ies were analyzed. Results 68 patients(73 eyes)were confirmed to have intraocular foreign bodies after surgery.Foreign bod-ies in the anterior segment showed strong echo on AS-OCT and UBM images.Among them, there were 26 cases(26 eyes)of scleral foreign bodies,18 cases(23 eyes)of corneal foreign bodies,8 cases(8 eyes)of conjunctival foreign bodies,2 cases(2 eyes)of ciliary body foreign bodies,3 cases(3 eyes)of lens foreign bodies,5 cases(5 eyes)of anterior chamber foreign bod-ies,5 cases(5 eyes)of ciliary body flat and surrounding foreign bodies, and 1 case(1 eye)of posterior iris foreign bodies;Cor-nea combined with conjunctival foreign bodies in 5 cases(5 eyes),cornea combined with sclera foreign bodies in 8 cases(8 eyes),cornea combined with ciliary body foreign bodies in 1 case(1 eye),cornea combined with conjunctiva combined with sclera foreign bodies in 1 case(1 eye). Conclusions AS-OCT and UBM can complement each other. They can accurately lo-cate and measure the parameters of foreign bodies in the anterior segment, and clearly show the adjacent relationship of surround-ing tissues. They provide objective basis for the choice of clinical operation methods. This conclusion has important guiding signifi-cance for the diagnosis and treatment of anterior segment foreign bodies.
