Abstract:Objective To compare the diagnostic value of magnetic susceptibility weighted imaging(SWI)and conventional MRI in cerebral cavernous malformation(CCM).Methods 50 CCM patients diagnosed by pathological examination were se-lected,all of whom underwent head SWI and routine MRI scans before tumor resection surgery. Then,we analyzed SWI and con-ventional MRI scan images to compare their sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy in diagnosing CCM.Results All 50 CCM pa-tients underwent SWI scanning and conventional MRI scanning. The SWI scan results showed that among the 50 patients,45 showed multiple low signal points, presenting a"bead like"or"mesh like"structure.Among them,15 showed a"mesh like"structure.Conventional MRI scans showed that on T1WI,40 patients presented as low signal or iso signal, and 10 patients pre-sented as high signal; On T2WI,35 patients presented with mixed signals,of whom 30 had high signal in the center and low or equal signal in the periphery,15 had relatively uniform peripheral signals without obvious stratification. Conclusion Compared to conventional MRI sequence scans,SWI sequence scans have higher diagnostic value for CCM.
