Abstract:Objective A retrospective analysis of the correlation between the morphology of the ophthalmic artery and the de-gree of intracranial atherosclerosis(ICAS)and small vessel disease(CSVD)in the brain was conducted. Methods The clinical and imaging data were selected from 100 patients who underwent cranial magnetic resonance imaging at our hospital.Based on the severity of intracranial ICAS,patients were stratified into three groups:non-ICAS(n=36),mild ICAS(n=37),and moderate-to-severe ICAS(n=27).After correcting for important risk factors such as age and gender, the differences in ophthalmic artery morphology among patients with varying degrees of intracranial atherosclerotic disease and different burdens of cerebral small ves-sel disease were analyzed. Results The average diameter of the ophthalmic artery in patients with moderate to severe ICAS is smaller than that in patients without ICAS;there is no statistical difference in the diameter of the ophthalmic artery among pa-tients with different CSVD burdens. As the CSVD burden score increases, the diameter of the ophthalmic artery gradually de-creases;there is no correlation between the degree of ICAS and the total CSVD burden score. Conclusion The degree of ICAS is correlated with changes in ophthalmic artery morphology.
