Evaluation of left atrial appendage function by transesophageal echocardiography for predicting recurrence of atrial fi-brillation after radiofrequency ablation

Abstract：Objective To explore the relationship between left atrial appendage function and recurrence of atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency ablation.Methods Eighty patients with atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency ablation in our hospital from February 2021 to February 2023 were selected as the research objects,and were divided into non-recurrent group(n=60)and re-current group(n=20)according to the recurrence within one year after operation,and the left atrial appendage function indexes and related risk factors evaluated by transesophageal echocardiography in the two groups were analyzed retrospectively.Results There was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the diameter and depth of left atrial appendage between the recurrent group and the non-recurrent group(P>0.05),and the change rate of left atrial appendage area,left atrial appendage emptying fraction and left atrial emptying fraction were lower than those in the non-recurrent group(P<0.05).Taking postoperative recurrence as the dependent variable,and the ultrasound parameters related to the left atrium and left atrial appendage as the independent variables,it was found that the change rate of left atrial append-age area,the left atrial appendage emptying fraction and the left atrial emptying fraction were independent risk factors for post-operative recurrence,among which the combined detection AUC was 0.944 and the Jordan index was 0.946,which made the diagnosis more accurate(P<0.05).Conclusion Evaluation of left atrial appendage function by transesophageal echocardiog-raphy can predict the recurrence of atrial fibrillation after radiofrequency ablation,which is helpful for preoperative clinical decision-making.
