Clinical application of cone beam CT in the diagnosis and treatment of affected teeth at the edge of jaw cysts

Abstract：Objective To explore the application effect of cone beam CT in the diagnosis and treatment of affected teeth at the edge of jaw cysts.Methods 180 patients with maxillary cysts and affected teeth at the edges were selected and divided into two groups based on different examination methods:a control group of 90 patients undergoing traditional X-ray examination and an observation group of 90 patients undergoing cone beam CT examination.Then,we compared the diagnostic accuracy of two ex-amination methods for affected teeth and their impact on treatment plan formulation,as well as evaluated the extent of bone de-struction around the affected tooth root apex.Results The diagnostic accuracy of the observation group was higher than that of the control group in terms of gingival absorption degree,dental mucosal condition,and root canal condition,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The number of cases in which the affected teeth were preserved during the observation group examination were higher than those in the control group examination,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The therapeutic effect of the observation group on tooth looseness,pulp vitality,and periapical status was significantly higher than that of the control group,and the incidence of postoperative complications such as infection,bleeding,and lower lip numbness was lower than that of the control group,with statistical significance(P<0.05).The observation group showed better dis-play of the degree and extent of bone destruction around the root apex than the control group.Conclusion Cone beam CT is supe-rior to traditional X-ray examination in the diagnosis,treatment,and efficacy evaluation of affected teeth at the edge of jaw cysts.
