Abstract:Objectives To evaluate carotid elasticity by using two-dimensional strain imaging(2DSI)in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Methods 98 patients with T2DM diagnosed in this hospital were selected. All of the patients were divided into three groups. There were 35 cases without NAFLD in group A,33 cases with mild NAFLD in group B and 30 cases with moderate to severe NAFLD in Group C.The parameters of the systolic global peak circumferential strain(CS),the early systolic global circumferential strain rate and the late systolic global circumfer-ential strain rate(CSr)were measured with 2DSI.After that, the stiffness parameter of carotid artery β1 and β2 were respectively calculated by M-mode ultrasound and two-dimensional strain imaging. Results Among the groups, the parameters of Ds,Dd and PSV showed no significant difference(P>0.05).In group C,IMT and β1 were obviously increased than those of groups A and B(P<0.05).Compared with groups A and B,there were no significant difference in IMT and β1(P>0.05).In groups B and C,β2 was higher than that of group A,while CS,CSr were lower than those of group A(P>0.05).Conclusions The carotid elasticity of T2DM patients with NAFLD can be evaluated by 2DSI.
