Analysis of the imaging and pathological features of breast cancer in young women

Abstract：Objective To investigate the characteristics of mammography and ultrasonography as well as the main pathological and immunohistochemical types of breast cancer in young women. Methods A total of 104 young women with breast cancer (under the age of 40) and 200 middle-age and elderly females with breast cancer were included in this study. We retrospectively analyzed the differences of traits in mammography, ultrasonography and pathology of the two groups. Results Mammography findings mainly exhibited as a mass with high density or calcification. The findings of ultrasonography were mainly shown as low echo and marginal blurs. The differences of manifestations of mammography and ultrasonography between both groups were statistically significant (P=0.038, P=0.000). The main pathologic type was invasive ductal carcinoma in young group, and it was not significant compared with the elderly group (P=0.875). The histological grade was mainly for gradeⅡand grade Ⅲ. The proportion of high levels was significantly higher than that of the elderly group (P=0.028). The lymph node metastasis rate in the youth group was higher than that in the control group (P=0.042). Both groups were mainly Luminal B type by immunohistochemistry. However, Her-2 positive was the majority type in Luminal B type of youth group. The triple-negative type and Her-2 rich type of breast canner in young group were higher than that in the elderly group (P=0.000). Conclusion In young women, the common characteristics of mammography and ultrasonography are different from those in the elderly group. The pathological types immunohistochemistry and molecular typing indicate that it has poor prognosis. According to the aggressive nature of the diseases, it's imperative for us to pay more attention to early detection and intervention of the disease.
