Abstract:Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect on dysphagia in patients with brain injury with usage of swallowing angiography. Methods 40 patients with dysphagia after stroke or brain injury were examined with same volume of dilute, thickened and paste barium before and after treatment. With respect to swallowing angiography, the swallowing function of these patients before and after treatment was evaluated. Results The whole swallowing process clearly observed in all the 40 patients showed that the onset time of swallowing, laryngeal lifting, residual of epiglottic valley, residue of piriform fossa, osmosis and false aspiration, etc., of which the onset time of swallowing and lifting of larynx were significantly improved compared with those before treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion Swallowing angiography can effectively evaluate the swallowing function of patients with dysphagia and brain injury, which might be helpful for guiding selecting effective treatment measures in clinical practice and providing a strong basis for observing the therapeutic effect.
