Abstract:Objective To observe the CT signs and pathological features of schwannoma in the rare sites for improving diagnostic accuracy. Methods The CT features of 25 schwannoma confirmed with pathological diagnosis and immunohistological examination were retrospectively analysed by comparing with the corresponding pathological results. Results 1) All of the 25 cases had single lesion and were mostly quasi-circular with clear boundary. In the 25 cases of CT examination,15 lesions showed homogeneous density,4 cases showed of low density, and the remaining 6 cases were cystic-solid mixed density. After enhancement, the solid components of the tumors showed dynamically delayed enhancement, moderate enhancement in the majority; 2) Histologically, the tumors were composed of the Antoni A areas of spindle cells and the Antoni B areas with sparse cells, cystic or myxoid degeneration. Conclusion Although schwannoma may occur in different sites and the CT imaging manifestations have certain characteristics, the final diagnosis still needs pathological and immunohistochemical examination.
