Abstract:Objective To study the value sonographic characteristics of PTC diagnosis of cervical lumphatic metastasis. Methods The ultrasonographic findings of 147 cases of papillary thyroid carcinoma confirmed by operation and pathology were analyzed. According to pathological results, the 147 cases were divided into lymph node metastasis group(experimental group,54 cases) and no lymph node metastasis group (control group,93 cases). A chi-square test was used to analyse the differences be-tween the sonographyic characteristics of these two groups. The sonographic characteristics of cancer nodules that were analysed, including, with or without halo, with or without microcalcification, capsule invasion and invasion of the degree of invasion,maxi-mum diameter, aspect ratio, boundary and other aspects. Results The differences of the following characteristics such as halo sign, microcalcification, capsule invasion, and maximal diameter were statistically significant( P <0.05),while the differences of borderline and aspect ratio of primary cancer nodules had no significant statistical significance for cervical lymph node metastasis ( P > 0.05). Conclusion Some sonographic characteristics of PTC were correlated with the cervical metastasis. Study of these characteristics was in benifit of the diagnosis of cervical metastasis and in helpful to the choice of surgical pattern.
