Abstract:Objective To study CT manifestations of the with cavity in AIDS Patients concurrent with Talaromyces marneffei. Methods We retrospectively analyze the chest cavity features of CT in AIDS Patients with Talaromyces marneffei infection, who were confirmed by clinic, pathology and bacteriology in our hospital from Jan. 2009 to Dec.2015. Results The cavity occurred in the unilateral lung in 53 cases and in bilateral lungs in 10 cases s. 4 cases occurred in the anterior segment of the right upper lobe,13 cases in apical segment,5 cases in the posterior segment, and 1 case in the middle lobe of right lung. 13 cases were found in the dorsal segment of lower lobe of right lung,2 cases in the anterior basal segment,3 cases in the of external basal seg-ment,13 cases in the apicoposterior segment of left upper lobe,3 cases in the lingual segment of upper lobe,12 cases in the dor-sal segment of lower lobe of left lung,3 cases in the outer basal segment, and 2 cases in the posterior basal segment. The cavity wall was regular in 40 cases and irregular in 34 cases. 66 cases presented with thick wall cavity and 8 cases with thin-wall cavity. There were 69 cases with smooth internal wall and 5 cases with blurring wall. 6 cases presented with the smooth external wall and 68 cases with blurring wall. All those cavity walls showed no calcification. One case appeared the gas-liquid plane. The cavity di-ameter more than ≥1 cm was found in 10 cases and that less than 1.0 cm in 53 cases. Conclusion CT manifestations of the cavity of AIDS Patients concurrent with Talaromyces marneffei are complex and various. A small single cavity with thick wall is common. The distribution of pulmonary segments has some characteristics.
