Abstract:Objective To analyse the alteration of the resting brain spontaneous neuronal activity in patients with type 2 dia-betic retinopathy by the method of amplitude of low frequency fluctuation based on resting-state functional magnetic resonance ima-ging. Methods 17 patients of T2DR and 17 patients of T2NDR and 21 NC were compared with age, sex, and education matched healthy control subjects. All subjects underwent Siemens Magnetom Trio Tim 3.0 T MR. Resting-state fMRI and 3D-T1WI images were performed in all subjects. And the method of ALFF was used to process the fMRI data, and two-simple T-tests were per-formed on two-group data respectively to compare the difference brain activity between each two groups. Finally,we analysed the correlation between the ALFF value extracting from the difference brain activity on T2DR group and cognitive test scale score. Re-sults Compared with health controls,T2NDR patients showed significantly decreased ALFF value in the right rectus, the right frontal superior gyrus and right temporal middle gyrus, and significantly increased ALFF value mainly in bilateral parietal superior gyrus and left parietal inferior gyrus( P <0.05);T2DR patients showed significantly decreased ALFF value in bilateral calcarine gyrus, bilateral lingual gyrus, left frontal superior gyrus, left frontal inferior gyrus, left temporal superior gyrus, and significantly increased ALFF value mainly in the left cerebellum ( P <0.05). Compared with T2NDR group, T2DR patients showed signifi-cantly decreased ALFF value in bilateral calcarine gyrus, left frontal superior gyrus, left temporal middle gyrus, bilateral occipital middle gyrus and right occipital superior gyrus, and significantly increased ALFF value mainly in the left cerebellum ( P <0.05). In the T2DR group, the relevant analysis showed a significant negative correlation between the ALFF value of the left lin gual gyrus and Mini-mental state examination score and between the ALFF value of the left calcarine gyrus and Montreal Cognitive Assessment score. Conclusion Patients with T2DR showed spontaneous cerebral activity abnormalities in many cerebral regions that were associated with cognitive impairments.
