Abstract:Objective To study the value of MSCT contrast enhanced scan in the differential diagnosis between gastric leiomyoma and gastric stromal tumors. Methods The imging data of 25 cases of gastric leiomyoma and 16 cases of GISTs were retrospectivly analyzed. All of the tumors were located in cardia and confirmed by pathology and immunohistochemistry. The CT features including esophagogastric junction (EGJ) invloment, growth pattern, morphology, enhancement patterns, the comparison of enhancement degree between equilibrium phase and venous phase, enhancement degree, ulcer, necrosis, long diameter (LD),short diameter (SD),and LD/SD were recorded.Among these features, statistically significant variables were determined by using the Chi-square test or Fisher's exact test (to compare the categoric variables),the student t test (for quantitative analysis). Results Compared with gastric stromal tumors, the leiomyomas frequently showed EGJ invloment, mild to moderate enhancement, the enhancement degree of equilibrium phase was less than or similar to the portal venous,LD/SD > 1.3,(The p values were 0.000,0.000,0.001,0.007,respectively).Conclusion MSCT contrast enhanced scan is of great value in the differential diagnosis between gastric leiomyoma and gastric stromal tumor located in cardia.
