Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of serum hypoxia inducible factor-1a (HIF-1a) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) on the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with interventional therapy. Methods From January 2013 to April 2015, we selected 159 patients with HCC, who were treated in our hospital. All patients underwent transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma. Before operation and 1 week after operation, HIF-1a and VEGF were detected. Results HIF-1a and VEGF were (210.04 ± 52.30) pg/ml and (352.04 ± 78.20) pg/ml at 1 week after operation, which was significantly higher than that before operation (P<0.05);Preoperative HIF-1a and VEGF levels were not associated with gender, age, tumor location, tumor diameter, HBsAg, and cell membrane (P>0.05);The content of HIF-1a and VEGF in patients with portal vein tumor thrombus was (201.38 ± 78.99) pg/ml and (368.29 ± 80.01) pg/ml, which was significantly higher than that in patients without portal vein tumor thrombus (P<0.05);The content of HIF-1a and VEGF in patients with CR+PR were (190.36 ± 60.03) pg/ml and (312.38 ± 80.04) pg/ml, significantly lower than that of SD+PD patients (P<0.05);Kanplan-Meier analysis showed that the serum levels of HIF-1a and VEGF in the 1 week after surgery had a effect on the prognosis of the patients. Conclusion Serum HIF-1a and VEGF can be used as an index to evaluate the prognosis of HCC.The prognosis of patients with lower HIF-1a and VEGF at 1 week after operation is better.
