Abstract:Objective To evaluate the image quality of advanced modeled iterative reconstruction (ADMIRE) in coronary CT angiography (CCTA) compared with standard filtered back projection (FBP) and to find out the optimized strength level. Methods 39 patients underwent CTA using third-generation 192-section dual-source CT with automated tube voltage adaptation (TVA). Images series were reconstructed with FBP and ADMIRE (strengths 1~5).Attenuation, image noise, Signal-to-noise (SNR) and contrast-to-noise ratios (CNR) were calculated. Subjective image quality was assessed by 2 observers using five-point Likert scales. Results There were no statistically significant differences in CT values between ADMIRE (strengths 1~5) and FBP (P>0.05).Image noise was significantly reduced using ADMIRE compared to FBP, and was decreased with increased ADMIRE strength level (P<0.05 maximal reduction 45.4%). CNR and SNR of ADMIRE were significantly higher than those of FBP, and was increased with increased ADMIRE strength level (P<0.05). Subjective image quality was rated best in ADMIRE 4followed by ADMIRE 5, ADMIRE 3, ADMIRE 2, ADMIRE 1, and FBP. Conclusion ADMIRE improves image quality in CCTA, both in regard to subjective and objective evaluation, and strength level 4 is the optimal one for CCTA.
