Abstract:Objective To analyze the role of DSC-MR perfusion imaging in the differentiation of oligodendroglial and astrocytic tumors. Methods This study included 84 patients, including WHO grade II and III oligodendroglial (n=41) and astrocytic (n=43) tumors. The maximum cerebral blood volume (CBVmax) and cerebral blood flow (CBFmax) regions of the tumor were selected as ROIs, and the maximum relative cerebral blood volume (rCBVmax) and cerebral blood flow (CBFmax) were calculated. The comparison of rCBVmax and rCBVmax values between different groups were conducted using the Mann-Whitney U test.Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was constructed to determine the diagnostic efficacy of each significant value. Results The r CBVmax of different grade oligodendroglial tumors was significantly higher than that of the corresponding grade astrocytomas (P<0.01).ROC analysis showed high diagnostic efficiency. There was no statistical significance of r CBFmax in differentiating the two groups of tumors. Conclusion The rCBVmax value obtained from DSC-MR perfusion-weighted imaging is useful in differentiating between oligodendroglial and astrocytic tumors.
