Abstract:Objective To evaluate the value of flow-empty area method in the diagnosis of atherosclerosis. Methods The clinical data of 235 male participants, who were referred to our hospital for the examination of carotid, were collected in Hebei Jizhong Engery Fengfeng Group Co.General Hospital from January 2016 to September 2016.We observed whether the carotid appeared empty area, carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), the systolic pressure (Ps), diastolic pressure (Pd) of brachial artery, the pressure differential (△P), whether there was atherosclerosis plaque, and then, calculated the pressure strain elastic modulus (Eρ), and stiffness parameter β.Taking carotid thickness as diagnostic standard, we drew the receiver operating characteristic curve, evaluated the diagnostic value of artery flew-empty area exist in diagnosis of atherosclerosis. Results ROC showed that six parameters,i.e., the flow-empty area, Eρ, hardening coefficient, age, △P, whether existence of atherosclerosis plaque, were useful for the judgment of the accuracy in diagnosis of atherosclerosis.(The area under the curve was 0.929, 0.819, 0.818, 0.681, 0.674, 0.576).The sensitivity was 95.03%, 72.38%, 72.93%, 60.22%, 53.04%, 22.65%, the specificity was 95.03%, 72.38%, 72.93%, 60.22%, 53.04%, 22.65%, the misdiagnosis rate was 9.26%, 12.96%, 12.96%, 53.70%, 18.52%, 7.41% and the missed diagnosis rate was 4.97%, 27.62%, 27.07%, 39.78%, 46.96%, 77.35%, respectively. Conclusion The accuracy is higher on the basis of flow-empty area method in diagnosis of atherosclerosis
