CT features of Kaposi's sarcoma in HIV/AIDS patients

Abstract:Objective To study the CT imaging features of patients with AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma.Methods We refro-spectively reviewed the CT imaging features of 12 patients with AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma.Results Chest radiographs showed diffused nodules (n=9), pleural effusion (n=6), mediastinal lymph node enlargement (n=8), bone destruction (n=1), and abdominal CT scans showed ill-defined liver nodules (n=1).Conclusion Chest computed tomography scans of pa-tients with AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma commonly reveal bilateral and symmetric ill-defined nodules in a peribronchovascular distribution , pleural effusions and mediastinal adenopathies;and multiple low density lesions could be seen in liver .
