Abstract:Objective To investigate the value of DWI and dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI ( DCE-MRI) in diagnosis of para-sellar cavernous hemangioma , by analyzing the signal features of MRI .Methods MRI data of 23 patients with parasellar cavern-ous hemangioma confirmed by post-operative histopathology were analyzed retrospectively .Results All patients performed plain , DWI and DCE-MRI examinations.Of all the 23 cases, 23 lesions were found, 15 lesions located in the left parasellar region , and 8 lesions located in the right parasellar region .On T1 WI, all the lesions showed low signal intensity .On T2 WI, 19 lesions showed obviously high signal intensity and 4 lesions showed moderately high signal intensity .On DWI, 17 lesions showed high /slight high signal intensity , 4 lesions showed equal signal intensity , and the ADC value of all the above 21 lesions was significantly high-er than that of normal cerebral tissue (1.40~1.79) ×10ˉ3 mm2/s, av 1.58 ×10ˉ3 mm2/s), 2 cases were rejected for obvious denture artifact. All the 23 lesions showed obvious heterogeneous enhancement on DCE -MRI, filling from the edge to the center. Conclusion Parasellar cavernous hemangioma has its distinctive MRI features , and most cases can be diagnosed by using plain MRI.For difficult cases , DWI combined with DCE-MRI may be useful in differential diagnosis .
