The application of dual-phase MSCT scan in parotid tumors

Abstract：Objective To review the CT features of different pathologic types of parotid tumors , in order to improve the diag-nostic accuracy of parotid tumors .Methods The CT materials of 60 patients with parotid tumors were collected. The CT values of the parotid tumors were measured before and after contrast medium injection .Both the clinical material and CT features were analysed.Results Among 60 Patients, 57 were benign, 3 were malignant.Pleomorphicadenoma often occurred in mid-aged women, younger than other groups .Adenolymphoma showed highest density with plain CT scan .After contrast medium injection , adenolymphomas presented fast in and out .Pleomorphicadenoma showed delayed enhancement .Basalcelltumor showed obvious and sustained enhancement , and had spotty low density in the center .Conclusion CT provides precise location of parotid tumors before surgery.Different pathologic types of parotid tumors differ in predilection age , location, plain and enhanced CT scan to a certain extent .
