Primary rosai-Dorfman disease (a case report and review of the literature)

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinicopathologic features and imaging findings of a case of primary spinal Rosai -Dorfman disease in order to improve the accuracy of diagnosis .Methods MRI appearance and clinicopathologic features in a case of histopathology confirmed Rosai-Dorfman disease were retrospectively analyzed .Results The clinical symptoms were low back pain and lower limb weakness and pain , which lasted for two months .MRI images showed subdural and intra-spinal canal abnormalities of moderate T 1 WI signal and short T 2 WI signal, and low signal of fat suppressed T 2 WI, and moderate signal of DWI in the 3~4 level of lumbar spinal .Lesions had grown around the endorhachis and had a wide range .Contrast-enhanced MRI showed lesions were significantly enhanced .Postoperative pathology confirmed the case was Rosai-Dorfman disease in the spinal canal.Conclusion Realizing the clinicopathologic features and characteristic imaging findings of primary spinal Rosai -Dorfman disease are useful to improve the diagnostic ability and guide the clinical treatment .
