Conventional MRI, DWI characteristics and immunocytochemistry of fibrous meningioma

Abstract：Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of routine MRI , DWI and immunocytochemistry of fibrous meningio-ma.Methods We performed and analyzed the finds of routine MRI and DWI of 49 cases of fibrous meningioma .All the cases were confirmed by pathology and 12 cases was performed immunohistochemical detection .The values of ADC of fibrous meningio-ma and other types were calculated and compared .Results 46 cases were supratentorial and 3 cases were infratentorial .15 cases showed lobulated, others showed round or oval-shaped.In convensional MRI, on T1WI, the tumors were isointense in 23 cases, hypointense or slightly hypointense in 23 cases, slightly hyperintense in 3 cases;on T2 WI, the tumors were isointense in 25 ca-ses, hyperintense or slightly hyperintense in 17 cases, hypointense or slightly hypointense in 7 cases.Peritumoral edema were mild to moderate in 20 cases.Restriction was mild to moderate in 38 case on DWI, but not in 11 cases.All cases showed mild to moderate enhancement on enhanced T 1 WI.The value of ADC of fibrous meningioma was significantly different from angiomatous meningiomas, atypical meningiomas, anaplastic meningiomas ( P <0.001, P =0.006, P <0.001), but was not different from meningothelial meningioma, transitional meningioma, psammomatous meningioma, clear cell meningioma ( P =0.45, P =0.09, P =0.80, P =0.15).Conclusion It can help with diagnosising and differentiating fibrous meningioma from other types of meningioma .
