Abstract:Objective To compare the difference between arterial spin labeling ( ASL ) and the dynamic susceptibility con-trast-enhanced perfusion weighted imaging ( DSC-PWI) for assessing brain perfusion in neuromyelitis optica ( NMO) patients. Methods ASL and DSC-PWI data were acquired from 10 cases of NMO.Cerebral blood flow (CBF) of fourteen regions of inter-est (ROI), including caudate nucleus , putamen, thalamus and white matter in the frontal lobe , parietal lobe, temporal lobe and occipital lobe , were measured using siemense postprocessing station .Results There was no significant difference between the two techniques.( t =1.061, 0.496, 1.312, -0.342, -0.403, -0.156, 0.224;P =0.329, 0.637, 0.238, 0.744, 0.708, 0.881, 0.830).There were significant correlations between CBF measured by ASL and that by DSC ( r =0.659, P =0.000), except for the ROI in parietal lobe .Conclusion Non-invasive ASL perfusion is as sensitive as DSC-PWI in evaluating NMO , and can be used in the clinical assessment .
