Abstract:Objective To investigate the value of ultrasound and CT in the diagnosis of struma ovarii. Methods Retrospec-tive analysis was carried out, and 11 cases of struma ovarii which were confirmed by pathology, were analyzed. We compared these features of ultrasonography and CT according to the pathologic results. Results 1)4 cases were located in the left ovary, and 6 in the right;2) 10 cases were cystic-solid lesions, and only one was single cystic lesion; 3)6 lesions had an irregular shape, and the other 5 lesions were round or oval;4) On the ultrasound images, the echo was homogeneous in the single cystic lesion, while it was not uniform in the cystic-solid lesions.Irregular septums and solid nodules were found in all 10 cystic-solid le-sions, among which 7 cases were multilocular, and inhomogeneous interior echos.Calcification of cystic wall and septum was ob-served in 3 cases. One lesion had high echo fat.Color Doppler ultrasound detected blood flow signals of solid components and sep-tums in 4 cases;5) On CT images, the density of single cystic lesion was higher than water.Among the 10 cystic-solid lesions, 7 cases were multilocular and density inhomogeneity, and 7 cases had calcification of cystic wall and septums.Fat was observed in 2 cases. After intravenously injection of the contrast agent, the solid portion of 9 cases was enhanced obviously, and 1 case was enhanced slightly.CT images showed 5 cases with pelvic cavity effusion, 1 case with pleural effusion. Conclusion The features of ultrasonography and CT of struma ovarii is characterized, and recognizing the imaging features is of great significance in reduc-ing misdiagnosis.CT is superior to ultrasound in detecting calcification and solid tumor blood supply.
