3D MR neurography of lumbosacral plexus:comparison between different sequences

Abstract：Objective To compare the value of lumbosacral plexus imaging between 3D-SPACE and MEDIC sequence in1.5 T MR.Methods 31 asymptomatic volunteers underwent 1.5 T MR scan, including routine lumbar spine MRI, 3D-SPACE and 3D-MEDIC sequences.All the raw data were transferred to the workstation and processed with MPR reconstructions.Comparison was made between 3D-SPACE and 3D-MEDIC sequence in signal noise ratio ( SNR) of never root and the manifestation score of lumbosacral plexus.Results The SNR of never root with3 D-MEDIC sequence were higher than those by 3D-SPACE sequence (701.5 ±24.03 vs 28.78 ±7.12, P =0.000) .Images with 3D-MEDIC sequences got the higher score of manifesting lumbosa-cral plexus than those with 3D-SPACE sequences ( P =0.000).Conclusion 3D-MEDIC sequence is better than 3D-SPACE sequence for manifesting of lumbosacral plexus.It can clearly demonstrate the paths of lumbosacral plexus and will be an impor-tant complement to the routine lumbar spine MRI sequences.
