CT manifestations of atypical pulmonary tuberculosis

Abstract:Objective To analyze CT manifestations of atypical pulmonary tuberculosis so as to improve the diagnostic ability for to atypical tuberculosis .Methods CT features of 54 patients with proved pathologically and clinically were reviewed .Results There were 3 cases showing just enlarged mediastinal and hilar lymph node , 6 cases showing solitary pulmonary nodules , 3 show-ing multiple nodules , 15 showing mass , and 27 showing pulmonary consolidation and atelectasis .Enhanced CT scanning was per-formed in 20 cases, and 7 lesions showed circinate enhancement , 4 showed slightly and middle enhancement , and 9 showed une-ven enhancement .There were 19 cases were misdiagnosis .Among thorse, 6 cases were misdiagnosed as lung cancer , 3 cases were misdiagnosed as inflammatory pseudotumor , 3 cases were misdiagnosed as pulmonary sequestration , and 7 cases were misdi-agnosed as pneumonia .Conclusion There is a variety of CT manifestations of atypical pulmonary tuberculosis .Sometimes, it is difficult to identify atypical tuberculosis with lung cancer and pneumonia .Fully understaning CT manifestations and combining with clinical manifestations and laboratory examinations can improve the accuracy of diagnosis .
