Observation and analysis on therapeutic effect of interventional stent angioplasty in 23 cases of symptomatic vertebral ar-tery stenosis

Abstract：Objective To assess the efficiency and security of carotid angioplasty and stenting ( CAS) in treating symptomatic vertebral artery stenosis .Methods 23 patients diagnosed with symptomatic vertebral artery stenosis by digital subtraction angiog -raphy ( DSA) received the CAS therapy .Results 22 cases were treated by the CAS therapy successfully without any complica-tions.One failure case was due to severe tortuosity of the vessel .The mean degree of stenosis decreased from preprocedural (84.3 ±4.2)%to (6.2 ±5.3)%.During the follow-up for 6~24 months, there was no recurrent stroke or TIA .Conclusion CAS has higher technical success rate and lower complications during perioperative period in the treatment of vertebral artery stenosis .
