Abstract:Objective To compare the perfection of reduced-dose gadoteric acid (0.07 mmol/kg gadoteric acid diluted with 0.15 ml/kg normal saline) rejected manually with traditional half dose gadoteric acid (0.05 mmol/kg) rejected by a high pres-sure rejector in dynamic contrast enhanced pituitary magnetic resonance ( MR) imaging. Methods In this randomized study , 45 volunteers consecutively underwent dynamic contrast enhanced pituitary MR imaging were rejected either reduced -dose and diluted gadoteric acid manually (22 cases) or half dose gadoteric acid by a high pressure rejector (23 cases). The enhancement effects and the margin between pituitary and cavernous sinus were evaluated .Then 153 consecutive patients suspected pituitary diseases were randomly received reduced-dose and diluted gadoteric acid rejected manually (79 cases) or half dose gadoteric acid rejected by a high pressure rejector (74 cases) during dynamic contrast enhanced pituitary MR imaging .And the detection rates and the margins of the lesions were assessed .Results High degree of enhancement was observed in all volunteers getting a peak of en -hancement within about one minute .The second group got a higher degree of enhancement than the first group ( P <0.05), while the scores of the margin between pituitary and cavernous sinus were close between two groups ( P =0.085).The detection rates ( P =0.787) and the scores of the lesion margins ( P =0.682) were similar between two patients groups as well .Conclu-sion Reduced-dose and diluted gadoteric acid rejected manually gets a similar performance to traditional half dose gadoteric acid rejected by a high pressure rejector in dynamic contrast enhanced pituitary MR imaging .
