High-resolution MRI of atherosclerotic middle cerebral artery and research on vascular risk factors of brain infarction

Abstract：Objective To evaluate arterial wall of atherosclerotic MCA and to study the relationship between vascular features and ischemic brain stroke by HRMRI .Methods HRMRI was performed in 38 patients with ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack in the distribution of MCA .The subjects were divided into two groups:ischemic group and TIA group .Associated vascular risk factors of cerebral infarction were explored .Results The MCA atherosclerotic plaque and the stability of plaque had statisti-cal significance between ischemic group and TIA group by comparison .MCA lumen with atherosclerotic plaque was the vascular risk factor of cerebral infarction .Conclusion HRMRI can display the vascular wall of atherosclerotic MCA and has advantages in the evaluation of ischemic stroke risk .
