Abstract:Objective To evaluate isotropic 3D T2 turbo‐spin‐echo (TSE) sequence with short‐term inversion recovery (STIR) and variable flip angle RF excitations SPACE (Sampling Perfection with Application optimized Contrasts using different flip angle Evolutions) with DTI in high‐resolution imaging of lumbosacral plexus .Methods 10 healthy volun‐teers and 32 patients with lumbosacral plexus neuropathy patients were studied with conventional ,3D STIR SPACE and DTI sequence .Results In 10 healthy volunteers ,L1 ~S1 of lumbosacral nerve root were clearly display by 3D SPCACE STIR sequence .In 32 cases of lumbosacral plexus neuropathy ,nerve root was pushing the shift in 27 cases ,5 cases with invasion .Intervertebral disc herniation caused by nerve root damage FA values than normal people ( P<0 .05) decreased , while the ADC value increased than in the normal people ( P <0 .05) .Conclusion 3D SPACE STIR sequence has good tissue contrast ,and the image can be used as high resolution mask measurement of DTI data of FA value and ADC value . A combination of the two can be a very good evaluation of lumbosacral plexus nerve compression position and violations of the scope and extent of nerve .
