Abstract:Objective To explore the performance cahracteristics of liquid restrain inversion recovery (FLAIR) and dif‐fusion weighted imaging (DWI) sequence in the diagnosis of Virchow -Robin spaces (VRS) in order to improve the diag‐nostic accuracy as well as to avoid misdiagnosis .Methods We retrospectively analyzed the FLAIR and DWI features of 19 cases of VRS in this work .Results Of those 19 patients ,11 cases were multiple ,8 cases were single ,with a total of 32 lesions .All the signal characteristics of VRS were similar to those of cerebrospinal fluid signals ,with clear and sharp boundary .FLAIR ,DWI sequence were both exhibited low signals ,without restriction of diffusion .Abnormal reinforce‐ment was not obviously found on the enhancement scan .Conclusion Comprehensive analyses of performance characteris‐tics of the conventional MRI ,FLAIR ,and diffusion weighted imaging can make a qualitative diagnosis of VRS ,which is helpful to reduce the misdiagnosis .
