CT diagnosis and differential diagnosis of basal cell adenoma of the parotid gland (reprt of 6 cases)

Abstract：Objective To investigate the CT features of basal cell adenoma of the parotid gland .Methods CT features of basal cell adenoma in 6 patients confirmed by operation and pathology were reviewed retrospectively .All CT images were retrospectively evaluated with respect to location ,size ,morphology ,margin ,density and enhancement features .Re‐sults All of the 6 cases were single tumor ,4 cases were located in the deep lobe and 2 cases in the shallow lobes .All the 6 tumors were clear boundary and round shape without lobular appearance .Cystic degeneration was displayed in all the 6 cases ,2 lesions were shown cystic areas in the center with wall nodules ,the solid part of the tumor was significantly en‐hanced in arterial phase ,and slightly decreased in venous phase .Conclusion Solitary nodule located in the shallow lobe of parotid gland ,clear boundary and necrosis in variable or a large capsule together with wall nodules ,and CT value in‐creased significantly in arterial phase and slightly decreased in venous phase should be considered the possibility of basal cell adenoma .
