The study on the correlation between carotid atherosclerosis and cerebral infarction diagnosed by color Doppler sonography

Abstract：Objective The intima‐media thickness (IMT) of carotid ,the plaque morphology and echo were examined by color Doppler sonography ,the correlation between cerebral infarction and carotid atherosclerosis were analyzed .Methods 95 patients with cerebral infarction with full clinical and imaging data were collected ,and the healthy people (60 cases) were chosen as control group .The IMT of carotid artery and the character of carotid artery atherosclerosis (the formation , echo ,luminal stenosis and blood flow velocity) were detected by color Doppler sonography .Statistical analysis was con‐ducted .Results The IMT in cerebral infarction group was thicker than in that in the control group ,the difference was statistical significant .There were statistical significant of the plaque morphology and echo between the patients and healthy people .Conclusion Both the thicken of carotid artery’s IM T and the formation of plaques in atherosclerosis are closely re‐lated with the occurrence of cerebral infarction .
