Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of presurgical embolization of meningiomas .Methods During the period from June 2004 to April 2014 ,the whole cerebral angiography was performed in a total of 108 patients with meningioma in authors’hospital .All patients were divided into embolized and noembolized group ,and then blood loss ,number of transfusion ,the rate of total resection or surgery time were compared between the two groups .Results There were significant differences in blood loss ,number of transfusion and the rate of total resection between the two groups ( P<0 .05) ,but no statistical difference in surgery time ( P>0 .05) .Conclusion The presurgical embolization of meningiomas is beneficial because it decreases operative blood loss and increases the rate of total resection .
