Abstract:Objective To generalize the HRCT menifestions and dynamic change of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and to correlate them to pathologic findings .Methods We analyzed 41 cases of IPF ,which were proved by cilinic and pathlogy .Results In 41 cases of IPF honeycoming ,ground grass opacity (GGO) ,traction brochilectisis ,reticulatic opac-ity ,interlobular thickening were seen in 33 cases (80 .5% ) ,34 cases (82 .9% ) ,35cases (85 .3% ) ,37 cases (90 .2% ) and 33 cases (80.5% ) ,respectively .In 17 cases with follow-up CT ,the extent of honecombing in 10 cases was found to be more than intial CT ,in which honeycombing cyst was enlarged in 1 case .GGO in 9 of 17 cases was found to develop to ho-neycombing .Lobectomy was performed in 3 cases due to lung cancer .Usual interstitial pneumonia was diagnosed in the three cases .Conclusion GGO ,reticulatic opacity and interlobular thickening were early stage CT findings of IPF .GGO and reticulatic opacity were consistent with alveolar septal thickening ,interlobular and intralobular fibroblast proliferation .
