Abstract:Objective To investigate value of high b-value DWI on early efficacy of gliomas after surgical resections fol-lowed by comprehensive treatments .Methods 22 patients with gliomas after combined therapies for 3~4 weeks under-went high and low b-value (1 000/3000 s/mm2 ) DWI scanning .The regions of interest (ROI) were set at the edge of the original surgery area within 2 cm and the contralaters white matter areas ,then the min-ADC values were measured ,and their ratio (rADC) was further calculated .Besides ,optimum threshold was determined by using ROC ( receiver operating characteristic) curve analysis .Results All patients were divided into progression and non-progression groups based on their second postoperative pathologies or their long-term follow-ups after surgical resections followed by comprehensive treatments at the early period (3~4 weeks) ,among which 9 patients were lined in the progressive group ,while the re-mains were in the other group .Optimum threshold of values acquired by low (b=1 000 s/mm2 ) and high (b=3 000 s/mm2 ) b-value method were 1 .69 and 1 .68 .Diagnostic sensitivity ,specificity and accuracy of rADC by low (b=1 000 s/mm2 ) b-value method were 61 .5% ,55 .6% ,54 .5% ,those of rADC by high (b=3 000 s/mm2 ) b-value method were 76.9% ,100% ,86 .4% .Conclusion The high b-value (b=3 000 s/mm2 ) DWI scanning can be used in evaluating the treatment efficacy after surgical resections followed by comprehensive treatments at the early period (3 to 4 weeks) .
