MR imaging manifestations of ventricular meningioma and its pathological basis

Abstract：Objective To explore the MRI manifestations of ventricular meningioma and its pathological basis and to im-prove the diagnostic accuracy .Methods MRI appearances and pathological characteristics of 20 ventricular meningiomas confirmed by surgery and pathology were analyzed retrospectively .Results Most of the ventricular meningiomas were fi-brous type and hyperintensity on diffusion weighted imaging .Most cases located in lateral ventricular trigone ,1 case in theⅢ and bilateral ventricle .All the cases were clear boundary .The most were parenchymatous with lobular and l case was found obvious cystic component .All cases showed marked enhancement and dilated ventricle .Peritumoral edema was mild among most of the cases .Conclusion Ventricular meningioma has some typical characteristic manifestations on MR imaging ,and the diagnostic accuracy can be improved when combined with the clinical data .
