MRI diagnosis of Hallervorden-Spatz syndrome

Abstract：Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of MRI in Hallervorden-Spatz syndrome .Methods MRI data of Hallervorden-Spatz syndrome in 4 patients in our hospital from February 2007 to April 2012 were retrospectively ana-lyzed .Results The brain MRI of Hallervorden-Spatz syndrome was demonstrated abnormalities confined to the pallidum , which presented diffuse low signal intensity in SWI ,and eye-of-the-tiger sign in T2 WI .Compared with the normal brain tissue ,the NAA ,NAA/Cr ,Cho/Cr were decreased .Conclusion Hallervorden-Spatz syndrome has definite MR imaging findings ,and M RI is of important value in diagnosis of Hallervorden-Spatz syndrome .
