Comparison between Cosmetic Suture and Skin Stapler in TKA Incision Closure
Abstract:Objective To investigate clinical effects of continuous intra-dermal suture combined with synthetic tissue glue(cosmetic suture)and skin staples on total knee arthroplasty(TKA)incision closure. Methods 38 patients (26 single knee,12 double knees)who underwent TKA surgery in our department from Jan.2017 to Jan.2018 were randomly divided into experimental group(n=19)and control group(n=19).Patients in experimental group were giv﹣en cosmetic suture and patients in control group were given skin stapler. The suture time, number of postoperative dressings change, postoperative hospital stay, visual analog score(VAS)and Hollander incision healing score were re﹣corded. Results The closure time in experimental group was longer than that in control group with fewer number of postoperative dressings change, short hospital stay and high Hollander score. Conclusion Continuous intra-dermal suture combined with synthetic tissue glue can be safely applied to the closure of TKA incision, which helps to improve patients'satisfaction.
