Abstract:Objective To compare the effects of biliary stenting alone and percutaneous intraluminal radiofre-quency ablation(RFA)combined with biliary stenting in malignant obstructive jaundice. Methods 21 patients with unresectable maglignant obstructive jaundice were included in this study from Jan. 2012 to Dec. 2014. 10 patients were treated by biliary stenting alone(stent group),while the other 11 patients were treated by RFA combined with biliary stenting(RFA group). The changes of serum AST,ALB,TB and DB before treatment and 7 days after treat-ment were observed. Surgical complications, stent patency time and survival time were compared. Results The suc-cess rate was 100% with no serious complications. There were significant differences on AST,ALB,TB and DB before treatment and 7 days after treatment between the two groups(P ﹤ 0. 01). There were no significant differences on AST,ALB,TB and DB after treatment between the two group(P ﹥ 0. 05). The stent patancy times were(102 ± 69)d and(213 ± 130)d,while the suvival times were(129 ± 94)d and(245 ± 142)d,which had no significant differ-ences between the two groups(P ﹤ 0. 05). Conclusion Biliary stenting alone and percutaneous intraluminal RFA combined with biliary stenting are both effective and safe in treating malignant obstructive jaundice. There are no differences in short - term effects between the two groups. However, the stent patancy time and the suvival time in RFA group are superior to stent group.
