Abstract:Objective To evaluate clinical effects of target controlled infusion of dexmedetomidine combined with propofol for painless colonoscopy on elderly patients. Methods 100 elderly patients underwent painless colonos-copy were randomly divided into control group and observation group. Target controlled infusion of propofol was per-formed in control group, while dexmedetomidine was added in the observation group. Induction time, recovery time and dose of propofol were observed and recorded. Hemodynamic parameters were monitored. Pain assessment was per-formed using visual analogue scale(VAS). All the data were statistically analyzed and compared. Results The induc-tion time, recovery time, and dose of propofol in observation group were significantly less than those in control group (P < 0. 05). HR and MAP at T1 in two groups were significantly decreased compared with those at T0(P < 0. 05). HR and MAP at T2 in two groups were significantly increased compared with those at T1(P < 0. 05). HR and MAP at T2 and T3 in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group(P < 0. 05). VAS score in observation group(1. 8 ± 0. 5)was significantly lower than that in control group(4. 2 ± 0. 9)(P < 0. 05). Conclusion Target con-trolled infusion of dexmedetomidine combined with propofol for painless colonoscopy on induction of anesthesia in eld-erly patients has several advantages such as short induction time, rapid recovery, less propofol dose with good analgesic effect. However, hemodynamic monitoring should be strengthened.
